Donate to FAS!

Please help the Academy keep dues, subscriptions, and meeting fees affordable to students, faculty, other professionals, libraries, and authors.  Donations to the Academy will assist achieving its purposes as a not-for-profit educational and professional society in STEM. Contact the Academy’s treasurer for large donations requiring an official letter for filing with taxes and for non-legal guidance on planned giving and bequests to the Academy.

Donations

General Academy Operations

Donations to the general operating account of the Academy assist it with day-to-day operations that accomplish its goals to encourage, support, promote, and recognize activities in the sciences, engineering, and mathematics.

Florida Endowment for the Sciences

The Academy established its permanent endowment fund in 1986 to support general activities of the Academy, special projects, and the Florida Junior Academy of Science.  Distributions are made annually from internal growth according to the spending policy of the FAS Council, its governing body.  Initial gifts are held in perpetuity, and internal growth so far has exceeded annual distributions.  As a 501(c)3 organization, contributions to FAS are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Dr. Elizabeth A. Heys Travel Award Fund

This fund supports travel grants to undergraduate and graduate students who attend and present their research (oral or poster) at FAS annual meetings. The fund was established by the FAS Council on 23 January 2010 as part of the Florida Endowment for the Sciences using a bequest from the estate of Betty Hays, a long-time Academy member who died in 2009. As a 501(c)3 organization, contributions to FAS are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
